“In the Pink” - being in tip top health, thriving.

The fashion industry and clothes loving fashionistas like myself are often trivialized as being superfluous and silly.  Probably about as far away from being in the pink as possible.  Just google “fashion good for you”.  Nada.  Zip.  Zilch.  But, you’ll find a plethora of essays on how skinny jeans make you sick, high heels hurt your feet and treatises on the evils of excess.

What fun is that?  Candy Holladay’s frippelosophy is that fashion empowers your mind and body helping you feel amazing and have a blast, but also spreads joy to all who behold your frippery!  Not only that, but fashion is stepping up to improve wellbeing by partnering with health charities.  I call this Frippel-anthropy.

For instance, I founded Spa4Diabetes to raise awareness for type 2 Diabetes which my parents have (ironic, huh? a diabetes advocate named Candy LOL).  And created Red, Pink and Blue - a health event to benefit heart disease, breast cancer & diabetes.  Not to toot my own hermes horn, but we even had a fashion show with garments in the colors designed by fashion students!

So you can imagine how excited I am about CFDA’s (Council of Fashion Designers of America) Fashion Targets Breast Cancer initiative for Breast Cancer Awareness month!  Just another way to show how fashion makes an important difference in others lives.  And, what better way to raise awareness, by wearing pink of course!, and make some money for the livelihood of ta ta’s everywhere!

What fashion designer will you turn to to sport your ballet, fuchsia, pepto bismol, hot (whatever shade of pink you care to wear)?

One frippelicious designer I’ll be mixing in is Lilly Pulitzer.  Her bright, vibrant patterns literally exude happiness and many contain pink!  Not surprising considering that's her pink quote above (via the Lilly Pulitzer website).

She designed dresses originally to mask stains from her fruit juice stand - and the dresses sold better than the juice! genius!  My fave prints have animals and every one has her name Lilly hidden in the design.  Look at these beauties!:
